Dial Your Heart Open - Nothing Might Change, but Everything is Different
The other day, a client had a truly heart-opening experience. Intense energy flowed through her whole body, and her heart filled with radiating light. The knots in her back released, and pain in her abdomen subsided. She knew she could transcend the devastating situation she was facing, empowered by a sense of loving connection to herself and others. Nothing had changed in her life, but she felt unburdened and free.
This type of experience is available to all of us if we can face whatever life brings with an open heart.
I found this to be true myself 15 years ago. In the midst of debilitating grief and loss, I had a job to perform. It was challenging, and I needed strength and focus to keep things running in a way that 125 families could rely on me to be present and meet their needs. It was agonizingly difficult as I was feeling such profound loss. During that time, one resource I found genuinely valuable was the book, The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer.
Reading Singer's book helped me learn to check in with my heart: was it open or closed? When we are upset and overwhelmed with emotion, we naturally resist the situation by shutting our hearts down. We don't want to experience intense grief or pain, helplessness, or anger.
If you stop and pay attention, you might notice sensations of tension, pinching, or a heavy darkness in your chest when the heart is contracting. In this closed condition, energy doesn't flow well, and it is difficult to experience happiness or contentment.
Fortunately, it is surprisingly easy to "dial your heart open." Picture it like a camera shutter that has closed down, then imagine yourself deliberately twisting it open to let in the light. When I did that, nothing about the demanding job changed, yet a sense of joy began to emerge. People even commented on it: "You look so happy."
As clients learn to let go of resistance, they feel their bodies release tension. Necks and backs relax, anxiety lessens, breathing becomes easier, and aches and pains resolve, healing is enhanced. Emotionally there is peace, and mentally, new perspectives bring a sense of empowerment and wonder.
Various clients have mentioned that they aren't so reactive. They can set boundaries more easily. Their digestion improves. They have more energy and motivation, and they are more focused.
If this sounds like something you would like to experience, but need someone to assist your awareness, I would love to connect. Please reach out so we can chat.
