What if It Were FUN? Accessing the Field of Possibilities

Breaking “Should” Patterns

So many things that I have done in my life were because I should.
Or I didn’t do them, even though I thought I should.

There was some kind of inner conflict and resistance.
Anxiety and guilt would show up in tandem with physical symptoms—couldn’t sleep, distracted, restless, tension.

Sound familiar?

I am so happy that I learned how to broaden my perspective and figure out what is true for me — what is in alignment with my life and purpose. I can resolve the inner conflict.

The Turning Point: Ask an Open-ended Question

Today I noticed I was procrastinating—about writing a blog post.
I was not wanting to sit and focus.

Part of me felt burdened—I should write, but it’s a challenge.
And part of me deeply wanted to connect with people.

Then, I remembered to ask a question:
“What if it were fun?”

I let myself experience that possibility.
What would I feel like? Who would I be?
If writing were fun…
If content sprang to mind…
If words flowed easily…

The Portal to Playful, Inspired Living

Asking “What if?” is such a creative and playful approach to life.
It’s like a portal into another world.

When I use this question with myself, my clients, and even my grandkids—so much energy begins to flow.
Life feels juicy and full of potential.

Another aspect of “me” who is inspired and expansive always exists, and I can connect with her. I begin to embody a new reality as I feel into who I might be. It’s possible to transcend the restrictions of limiting beliefs and coping mechanisms. Sometimes I have to ask questions in different ways until I find one that feels like an opening.

How to Open to Other Dimensions, Possibilities, and Inspiration

Here are some ways to access the field of possibilities and inspiration:

  • Prayer
Connect to the Divine, Consciousness, Ancestors, the Universe—something larger than you—for inspiration. You can use a mantra or a verse to help you focus.

  • Willingness - Feel into your vastness.

Be willing to let go of limiting beliefs, even if you don’t know how. Just be willing.

Open the door to the Universe - it is waiting to assist you.

  • Sit and Notice
    Take time to simply notice.
    You’re opening to unlimited possibilities.
(Often we pray or meditate but don’t wait to hear the answer.)

  • Ask Open Ended Questions
Try: If I could notice something, what would I notice?

Or: Who would I be if I could easily _______?

  • Wait for Direction
Allow a feeling, a sense, a thought, or a subtle nudge to arise—it will come.

  • Act with Confidence
    Once inspiration arrives, take action.
    Action brings inspiration into reality.

  • Adopt a Learning Mindset
When you know that life is for learning, you will never feel like a failure.
Notice what went well and what you might improve next time.

Repeat Whenever You Feel Challenged

Use this process whenever you’re feeling stuck, conflicted, or uninspired.
The more you engage with it, the more natural it becomes.

Gratitude for New Ways of Being

At this point, I have to give thanks to Richard Bartlett, DC, ND, the founder of Matrix Energetics, for introducing me to concepts about the field of possibilities that is always available to us.

We don’t have to keep doing things the same way.
We can easily connect with new thoughts, ideas, feelings, and realities in so many different ways.

And once we’ve connected, we can “Notice what we notice,” as Richard would say. What is different?
